Pete’s RV Gets Product Training on 2011 Springdale RV

April 13th, 2011 by Phil | Posted in Fifth Wheels, General RVs, Keystone, News, Product News, RV Sales, Springdale, Travel Trailers | No Comments »

Keystone RV District Manager Brain Weaver paid a visit to Pete’s RV Center to provide product training on Springdale travel trailers and fifth wheels.

His presentation was further reinforcement that Springdale RVs are family favorites and continuously a top seller in the travel trailer category.

A few of the noticeably impressive features for 2011 include:

  • 26″ LCD TV with name brands such as Sharp and LG
  • Adaptable AM/FM/CD/DVD/IPod/MP3 player
  • Solid wood across slide fascia and full wood framing
  • Full width outriggers
  • 30,000 BTU furnace vs. competition’s 25,000 BTU furnace
  • Porcelain toilet with 360 degree rinse

Brian also pointed out several less obvious yet exceptional features such as:

  • Upgraded lighting in slide-out with sconce fixtures
  • Nightstands under each side of queen bed with drawers
  • Dynaspan flooring is 20% stronger than plywood, water repellent, and comes with a lifetime warranty
  • Hand-tightened plumbing fittings requires no tools
  • Do-more dinette table weighs 8 pounds and provides easy functionality

Given to only two manufacturers per year, Springdale RV is a DSI (Dealer Satisfaction Index) award winner.  We’re not surprised.  Pete’s RV Center has long touted the value, durability and affordability of the Springdale RV brand.  It is an exceptional choice for entry-level RVers and families looking to sleep four or more–yet still maintain all the creature comforts of a fully equipped camper.  Case in point:  Historically, Pete’s RV focused on Springdale travel trailers, but we liked the 2011 Springdale fifth wheels so much, we added several Springdale fifth wheel floorplans to our inventory as well!

As time progresses Pete’s RV will provide you with up-to-date Springdale features.  In the meantime, we welcome you to contact us with further inquiries on Springdale Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheels.

Pete’s RV Gets Product Training on 2011 Montana RV

February 18th, 2011 by Phil | Posted in Fifth Wheels, High Country, Keystone, Montana, Mountaineer, News, Product News, RV Sales | No Comments »

A very enthusiastic Mike Mack from Keystone RV Company rolled into Pete’s RV for product training.  Why the enthusiasm, you ask?  Mike is a sales manager for Montana RV–the reigning number one fifth wheel for 10 consecutive years!

That said, he was pretty fired up to reinforce the many reasons why there’s more than 60,000 Montana Fifth Wheels on the road today!

A few of the noticeably impressive features for 2011 include:

  • New vaulted ceiling profile with 5 inch non-tapered steel roof trusses
  • 40 inch LCD HD televisions in most floorplans
  • Visually pleasing AND functional 5100 BTU fireplaces
  • Solid hickory hardwood cabinetry and residential grab handles
  • Dupont Corian countertops with solid surface sinks and sink covers
  • Remote control unit for slideouts, stabilizer jacks, awning and security lights
  • Mor/Ryde suspension, Goodyear tires, Dexter EZ lube axles and Nev-R adjust brakes

Mike also pointed out several less obvious yet exceptional features such as:

  • Certified zero degree cold weather insulation package
  • 3 inch interior structure walls with no plastic mouldings
  • Highly efficient straight-ducted heating system
  • Vented attic to greatly reduce interior condensation and moisture buildup
  • Swivel-top dinette table with extension and under seat storage chairs
  • Even with all the fixings, it’s still the lightest high-line fifth wheel in its class

For an added touch of comfort and luxury, Pete’s RV includes leather furniture, a second A/C, dual-pane windows and side-by-side 12 cubic foot refrigerator options in most of our Montana fifth wheels.

Along with Montana, Mike provided feature overviews for Montana High Country and Mountaineer.  He stressed that both offer the same overall construction, durability and safety features as Montana.

Montana High Country’s biggest takeaway is Helium Technology.  On average, it is 2000 pounds lighter than other fifth wheels in its class.  Yet when looking at one, there’s certainly no sacrifice in upscale features or amenities (it’s smoked gray exterior is impressive as well!).

The key takeaway on Mountaineer is that it is unquestionably the best value for a high-line fifth wheel.  The space and comfort is all there along with a pretty spectacular package (we like the new graphics too!).

As the year progresses Pete’s RV will continue to highlight Montana RV features in more detail.  In the meantime, we welcome you to contact us with further inquiries on Montana, Montana High Country, and Mountaineer Fifth Wheels.

Keystone RV’s Helium Technology Not Light on Features!

May 5th, 2010 by Phil | Posted in Cougar, Fifth Wheels, High Country, Keystone, Montana, Product News | No Comments »

Back in December when Keystone RV unveiled the new High Country Fifth Wheel with Helium Technology, attendees were wowed by its eye-catching smoke gray exterior and finely-detailed interior. But what was really mind-blowing is it weighs 2000 pounds less than comparable units in its class!

So how did they do it without compromising on quality, safety and feature offerings? According to Keystone, Helium Technology uses advanced materials and manufacturing techniques to significantly lighten the fifth wheel without sacrificing the features that make Montana and Cougar so popular. You can get some additional information and views of High Country with Helium Technology from a YouTube clip by Keystone’s, “RV News Channel”.

After evaluating the first 333DBS High County units to roll into Pete’s RV Center, we like what we see! The Montana 333DBS has spacious living quarters and storage galore. There are several classy interior touches including Roman window applications and a glass bowl bath sink in the master suite.

The above images are just a few highlights from the many pictures we snapped of the Montana High Country 333DBS. You can view all the pictures by clicking on an available 333DBS unit on our Montana inventory page. Helium Technology is currently available in 3 Cougar and 2 Montana floorplans.

Feel free to contact us with further inquiries on either of the High Country lines.

Fifth Wheel or Travel Trailer. What Should We Buy?

April 23rd, 2009 by Todd | Posted in Fifth Wheels, General RVs, Travel Trailers | No Comments »

Over the years working here at Pete’s RV Center, I ‘am asked all the time by clients, “What should we buy. A fifth wheel or a travel trailer?”.  This is a very good question you should ask and the answer is going to be different for each individual person.

There are pros and cons to both styles of RVs.  Please remember that there is no such thing as the perfect RV.  No matter how much research you do, no matter how many different RVs you look at, you will never find an RV that has exactly everything you are looking for.  The trick is to figure out which style has the most features, conveniences and advantages for you and your family.

Let’s talk about some of the advantages of both styles of RVs.  First let’s talk about fifth wheels.

  • Towability - Fifth wheels tow down the road better than travel trailers.  because the tongue weight is over the rear axle of your truck, you will get less bounce and sway.
  • More Living Space - Foot for foot, fifth wheels will give you more interior living space.  RVs are typically measured from the point that sticks out furthest in the front to the point that sticks out furthest in the rear.  So what that means is that in a 34′ fifth wheel you are getting roughly 31′ - 32′ of interior living space.  In a 34′ travel trailer you will only be getting roughly 29′ - 30′ of interior living space.
  • Easier to Hook-up to Tow Vehicle - With a fifth wheel you can watch the king pin engage the hitch while backing up.  In a travel trailer the ball is hidden so it is hard to tell when the ball is perfectly lined up with the trailer coupler.  this translates to either using two people or backing up multiple times to achieve the perfect alignment.
  • Better Floor Plans - Because of the bigger box on fifth wheels as explained earlier, you will get a better selection of floor plans.
  • More Slideouts - this is again because of bigger boxes.
  • More Exterior Storage - Most fifth wheels have what they call a raised bath deck floors which allows for huge pass-thru storage compartments.

There are also many advantages of owning a travel trailer over a fifth wheel.

  • Smaller Investment - Travel trailers typically are less money than a comparable fifth wheel.
  • Hitches Cost Less - A hitch package will run you less money for a travel trailer than a fifth wheel.
  • More Tow Vehicle Options - A fifth wheel trailer requires a pick-up truck while a travel trailer does not.
  • Pick-up Truck Storage - If you do haul a travel trailer with a pick-up you have all the pick-up bed storage to use to haul bikes, grills, etc.  You lose all of that with a fifth wheel.
  • Travel Trailers Weigh Less - You can haul more travel trailer than fifth wheel if you are limited by your tow vehicle.
  • Easier More Comfortable Traveling with Multiple Travelers - Sometimes traveling in a truck may not be that comfortable for passengers.

These are just a few of the things you should consider when deciding whether to invest in a fifth wheel or a travel trailer.  Surely there are other things to consider but these are the big ones.  Ultimately what is right for you and your family is known only by you.  A knoweledgable RV dealer should be able to help you along the way and assist you in finding the right style of RV that will give you years of family fun and enjoyment.  If you have specific questions regarding this, please don’t hesitate to call us here at Pete’s RV Center at 1-800-639-5093.

Keystone Cougar #1 in Retail Sales

April 18th, 2009 by Todd | Posted in Cougar, Fifth Wheels, General RVs, Keystone, Travel Trailers | No Comments »

Keystone’s Cougar brand was recently awarded the number one spot in retail sales for laminated travel trailers and fifth wheels, according to Statistical Surveys, Inc., Grand Rapids, Michigan. In addition to the number one ranking, Cougar travel trailers and fifth wheels also experienced 2008 market share growth in excess of 20%, outpacing all other brands nationally in total sales.

Cougar General Manager Chris Hermon credited great product and great dealers for the brand’s success. Says Hermon, “Every person in our Cougar organization and especially our product development team is committed to being the very best at their particular area of expertise. We all understand we have to work very hard to keep dominating and leading the way. As a group we are all on the same page. This award shows that we have a real pulse on what customers want.”

Among the product innovations that keep Cougar on top is a “never before” seen side-aisle bath fifth wheel floorplan with a huge linen closet slideout in the bathroom. Five additional new Cougar models have also been introduced along with debut of the customer-friendly iPod-sized Cougar Remote that controls the operation of slide out rooms, landing gear, as well as docking lights.

“We understand we need to continue to hit the sweet spot between great looks and features and a great price,” says Cougar Product Manager Jeff Runels. “Dealers and customers continue to look at Cougar as an exceptional travel trailer and fifth wheel brand. This environment continues to draw more people our way.”

Adds Hermon, we understand that exciting product keeps salespeople and dealers excited. We continue to be very committed to being that type of brand for our dealers.
