Keystone Cougar Extra | Find Astro-Insulation in All Slideout Floors

March 13th, 2014 by Phil | Posted in Cougar, General RVs, High Country, Keystone, Product News, X-Lite | No Comments »

Astro-Foil Advantages:

  • Reflective - Reflects heat energy. Keeps buildings warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer.
  • Clean, Non-carcinogenic - Installation requires no special protective clothing, gloves, masks or respirators.
  • Lightweight - Material is thin, pliable and easy to install, and has little or no effect on building design loads.
  • Compact - Works well in limited spaces and is easier to ship and store.
  • Tough - Tear and puncture resistant. Can be pressure washed.
  • Water-resistant - Astro-Foil’s non-permeable surfaces keep moisture out.
  • Wind barrier - Astro-Foil’s solid surface absolutely stops air infiltration, adding to the energy efficiency of any building.
  • Fire-retardant - Astro-Foil has a Class 1, Class A fire rating and low smoke spread.
  • Enduring - Material is impervious to fungus and inhospitable to insects, birds and nesting rodents.
  • Reflects light - Can reduce indoor lighting require- ments by 40%.
  • Full factory warranty - Depending on application, Astro-Foil is warranted up to building life against material defects.

As mentioned in the flier above, all Cougar, Cougar High Country Edition, and Cougar X-lite travel trailers and fifth wheels have slideout room floors layered with Astro-Foil.  Take a look at competitive campers.  You will be surprised how many of them do not use Astro-Foil in slideouts.  It should be a given since these are areas most susceptible to hot and cold temperature conditions.

Pete’s RV Customer Recaps Fall Montana Owners Club Rally

December 8th, 2013 by Phil | Posted in Fifth Wheels, High Country, Keystone, Montana, Mountaineer, Shows and Events | No Comments »

pRV Editor’s Note:  Each year towards the end of summer, I get a friendly message from customer Rich L. who hails from Westford, MA.  He reminds me that he’ll be heading out to Indiana for the annual Montana Owners Club (MOC) Rally.  Rich is kind enough to exchange a first-person account of the event for a gift card donation for their raffle.  Knowing the agenda of manufacturers like Keystone RV Company are always generous hosts and eager to share new product updates, fulfilling Rich’s offer is a no-brainer.  From his account below, you can understand why MOCers make the journey each year.  Good times, indeed!

Montana Owners Club Rally on YouTube

This was the 10th annual MOC Fall Rally.  The largest attended fall rally to date, 117 sites were available and all were reserved with a waiting list for possible last minute cancellations. My wife and I arrived a few days early this year so we could sample some of the areas offerings such as the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Menno-Hof, a center that educates on the the history of the Mennoite, Amish, and Hutterites cultures.

Here are some of the event highlights:

  • Presentations by Dicor (roof membrane) and Dometic (rooftop air conditioners & refrigerators), and Dexter Axels.
  • Ladies Driving School -The ladies start off with classroom instruction, then break into three groups.  One group tows over a driving route, the second backs the rig into a space, and the third hitches and unhitches from the tow vehicle.  With no husbands allowed, it’s a stress-free learning experience with patient instructors.  They did fantastic!
  • Keystone RV Service Tech - MOCers get fifteen minutes with a master certified technician at your campsite to discuss any issues or questions that you may about your RV.  Keystone does address most issues either as warranty  or “goodwill”.
  • Factory tour - Groups of 10 are taken through the factory in twenty minute intervals.  It is closed for the day.  At the conclusion of the the tours, we viewed the different Montana fifth wheel models and a prototype that dealers haven’t even seen yet!  In late summer, Montana changed the exterior sidewall color to “oyster” an off white ivory color (nice!).
  • Mennonite Relief Sale -This is a huge fundraiser for the Miciana Mennonites.  Monies raised go towards disaster relief. Also held is a huge quilt auction with over 250 quilts.
  • Amish Dinner- A sit down, authentic Amish style dinner served in an Amish home.
  • Keystone RV Company - Product Manager Mike Mack and Team Montana discussed ideas for currant and future models.  Who better to critique the product than us MOCers?

It is pretty obvious this wonderful group of Montana fifth wheel owners enjoy a strong bond and friend with each other as well as a love for RVing.  Further evidence can be found on their highly recommended discussion boards website.  Recommended by Pete’s RV, MOC Forums is chock full of informative chatter for all things Montana and an active RVing lifestyle.

Pete’s RV & Indy Dealers Offer 2013 Peeks at Midwest RV Super Show

Even two days of heavy rains could not bring down the spirit of the group representing Pete’s RV Center at the four-day Midwest RV Super Show in Elkhart, Indiana.

“We’re here in the heartland of RV manufacturing on the grounds of the RV Hall of Fame.  Who could ask for a better location to have an RV show,” said Vice President of Sales Todd McGinnis.

Held August 9-12, this was Pete’s RV first time exhibiting at the Midwest RV Super Show.

“With the majority of recreation vehicles being manufactured in Indiana, it’s only natural there are quite a few dealers here.  This show was a good opportunity for us to let local consumers learn more about our Schererville, Indiana dealership, what we carry, and why we should be their first choice when buying a new RV,” said McGinnis.

For the show, Pete’s RV displayed a dozen new 2013 Cougar fifth wheels and travel trailers made by Keystone RV Company.  While the most dramatic updates for the new model year are unveiled at the national RV trade show in November, attendees did get a sneak preview of what is coming in 2013.

The most popular models based on attendee feedback were the Cougar Xlite 28RBS (a bunkhouse travel trailer), Cougar High Country 321RES (a rear living room travel trailer), and most especially the Cougar High Country 246RLS.  The latter is a lightweight fifth wheel with a rear living room floorplan and tasteful decor.

Pete’s RV Kicks Off 2012 at Chicago Boat and RV Show

January 19th, 2012 by Phil | Posted in High Country, Keystone, Montana, Passport, Pete's News, Shows and Events, Trade Shows, Vantage | No Comments »

Coming off a successful 2011, Pete’s RV Center kicked off the new year as exhibitors at the 2012 Chicago Boat, Sports and RV Show held January 12th -16th.  As first timers to this popular event at the mammoth McCormick Place convention center, it took a boatload (no pun intended) of planning and a sizable staff to work the five-day show.

“Consumer shows always involve intense preparation, but the Chicago RV Show was unique because it required us to combine personnel and resources from our Indiana and Vermont dealerships,” said Vice President of Sales Todd McGinnis.  “It’s a large show in an even larger metropolitan area, goes on for five days, and has long hours.  Therefore, it’s critical that we have plenty of new RVs on display and enough staff to represent them.”

Pete’s RV had fifteen recreation vehicles in their display manned by a dozen or so staff members.  Overall, McGinnis felt the show kicked off the year on a positive note.

“Even though the show is boat-heavy and only about thirty-five percent of the displays are RV dealers, the foot traffic was solid enough to keep us busy throughout the five days.  It provided excellent exposure for our dealership in nearby Schererville, Indiana, we sold some units, and met some great folks.”

Among all of positive feedback on new campers from Keystone RV Company, Pete’s RV Lifestyle Consultant Joe Vartuli pointed out a few of the attention-getters:  “People really liked the Montana High Country 343RL’s rear-living room, the Passport 3220BH’s bunkhouse and outdoor kitchen, and ultra-light Passport 190EXP expandable trailer.  We received lots of good feedback on the new Montana 3402RL fifth wheel floorplan, and especially the Airstream-like Vantage travel trailer line that was just launched by Keystone RV.”
