Getting the right RV can make all the difference in your next camping trip, but it’s also only half the story. Planning the perfect adventure involves a lot more forethought, and you’ll want to take some time to figure out which activities you’ll want to do every day so there’s no time to sit around and be bored. We here at Pete’s RV Center have provided some of our favorite camping activities to help you kickstart your schedule. If you still need the RV to get you there, stop by one of our locations in South Windsor, Connecticut; South Burlington, Vermont; and Plainville, Massachusetts. We proudly serve all patrons from across New England, including the cities of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Albany, New York.
1. Hiking
It’s a classic outdoor activity and New England has plenty of nature sanctuaries to explore. Wherever you go, there’s a good chance you’ll be near some fantastic hiking trails suitable to all skill levels.
2. Boating and Fishing
If you have your own boat, you can head out onto the water for some fun swimming and watersports activities. You can also enjoy some peaceful fishing and take your catch of the day back to your camper to cook up a good meal!
3. Look for Local Events
While many events have suspended their activities until it’s safe to gather again, those safer conditions might be just around the corner. If lockdown regulations get lifted by the time you start camping again, consider checking the region you’re traveling to for fun, local events. Festivals, concerts, and recreational gatherings will likely be a welcome reprieve from last year.
You can even get really, really local and check out what’s going on at the campground you’re staying at. Many campgrounds have on-site recreational activities, like sports fields and courts, an indoor rec center, and may even plan the occasional on-site activity.
4. Sports and Games
You’ll want to have some plans for when you’re relaxing back at the campsite. Whether it’s just for a meal or you’re taking a break from outdoor activities, bring along some sporting equipment and games that are easy to do in and around your camper. This can include touch football, wiffle ball, card and board games, and more.
5. Quiet Time
Don’t stuff your schedule so full of things to do that you forget to stop and smell the roses. Vacations and travel should be about relaxing, and the best way to relax is to kick up your feet with a good book, some music, or to take a nap.
While these are some of our favorite things to do on an RV trip, you should ultimately plan for the kinds of activities you know your family will love. But first, you’ll need the RV. Check out our online inventory here at Pete’s RV Center, and no matter where you are in New England, let us know how we can get your favorite models to you. We’re happy to help all those from South Windsor, Connecticut; South Burlington, Vermont; and Plainville, Massachusetts.
